April 19-23
We spent some time at the beginning of the week finishing up work that was started last week, while I was away, along with learning about Mental Health. We watched a couple of videos about mental health and emotions and figured it means dealing with our 'big emotions' so that we can stay healthy. With the help of Ms. Glowacki and Ms. Gainor, we created a short 1 minute film for the teachers to share with their classes to remind students to wear their hats on May 5th for Hat's on for Mental Health Day. I just need to get the link for the video and I will post it in the google classroom, as soon as that link is shared with me. Most likely that will be on Monday. Please watch for the note in the Show and Share book next week.
With Earth Day falling on April 22nd, we talked about what the Earth provides for us and what our responsibility is to care for our planet. Students learned of a number of different actions that they can do to make a difference to our environment and each student chose an action and made a pledge to work on this action for the coming year. After looking at a globe and some pictures of the planet from space students created their own planet that resembled Earth. Ask your child how they made their piece of art and what their pledge was. We also got outside on Wednesday to do a little garbage clean up. Students were very surprised with the amount of garbage they collected in just 10 minutes.
